Brent Harris
I am an artist, educator and end of life doula whose practice utilizes nature based reflection and creativity as a means to understand and honor our cycles of living and dying.
I offer a rites of passage approach to help guide my clients to a successful and fulfilling journey through their personal thresholds and into a renewed relationship to the world and to themselves.
Whether you are searching for tools to navigate life or seeking counseling for an end of life journey, we will create essential practices to navigate and honor your journey.
Biography
Brent’s journey to understanding the relationship and creativity began with studying psychology, philosophy and their connection to art. This led him to a life as an artist and a BFA in sculpture. Continuing to create a body of work on his own he turned from academia to strengthen his relationship to his community.
He found this connection working as a paramedic/Field Trainer for 10 years. There he deepened his understanding of our mortality, our shared vulnerability and how we tend to each other.
End of Life work.
Using art, personal/group reflection and ritual based practice, Harris has worked for eight years as a guide and teacher, facilitating death positive workshops, classes and ceremonies.
An avid outdoor enthusiast and educator, Harris resides in Southwest Michigan with his wife and creative partner Jenny Joy.
He is the current chair of 3D Media at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, a NEDA registered End of Life Doula, and a rites of passage guide continuing the teachings of the School of Lost Borders.
